My name is Jessica Brown and I'm an abstract expressionist! I discovered painting in the 8th grade. I remember taking an art class as an elective at my middle school, and being late to my next class because I just couldn't put down the paint brush. Through that time, I became fascinated about the world of arts and crafts. Time seemed to just vanish when I was painting or sketching.

One day in Starkville I sat down to paint on this large piece of peg board paneling that I turned into a 96 inch canvas. I was so excited because it was so large and had so much potential to become something extraordinary! I drew and painted for a week straight. I kept mixing different colors and drawing new things on it everyday. It reminded me of my best days as a little girl.

 

Painting has gotten me through my rough moments in life. It's helps me with my confidence. To me it builds my character and adds a little spice to my personality. I love art! It is the most freeing thing I've experienced in life. I can be free to paint whatever I feel and call it whatever I want. We don't get to do that often in life.
